In this series of paintings, I went back to places in my childhood memories. The paintings are meant to represent the changed and unchanged. By painting a figure trapped in dense layers of leaves I intended to illustrate the grimness I felt. I use thinned out paint, a traditional Chinese ink wash technique, against thickly applied paint from the western oil painting technique. This mixture of painting techniques represents the influence of western and eastern culture has on me.
